Bell's palsy ( also called as Antoni's Palsy, Facial Nerve Palsy, Facial Paralysis, Idiopathic Facial Palsy, Refrigeration Palsy) is a non-progressive neurological disorder of one of the facial nerves (7th cranial nerve).
This disorder is characterized by the sudden onset of facial paralysis that may be preceded by a slight fever, pain behind the ear on the affected side, a stiff neck, and weakness and/or stiffness on one side of the face. Paralysis results from decreased blood supply (ischemia) and/or compression of the 7th cranial nerve.
The exact cause of Bell's palsy is not known. The facial nerve controls most of the muscles in the face and parts of the ear. The facial nerve goes through a narrow gap of bone from the brain to the face. This nerve becomes inflamed. It is most likely caused by a virus, usually the herpes virus, which inflames the nerve. The virus that causes mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr), as well as the cytomegalovirus, has also been linked to Bell's palsy. There may also be an inherited tendency toward developing Bell's palsy.
The early symptoms of Bell’s palsy may include a slight fever, pain behind the ear, a stiff neck, and weakness and/or stiffness on one side of the face. The symptoms may begin suddenly and progress rapidly over several hours, and sometimes follow exposure to cold or a draft. Part or all of the face may be affected.
Recovery from Bell’s palsy depends on the extent and severity of damage to the seventh cranial nerve. If facial paralysis is only partial, complete recovery can be expected. The affected muscles usually regain their original function within one to two months. If, as recovery proceeds, the nerve fibers regrow to muscles other than the ones they originally innervated, there may be voluntary muscle movements of the face accompanied by involuntary contractions of other facial muscles (synkinesia). Crocodile tears (tears not brought on by emotion) associated with facial muscular contractions occasionally develop in the aftermath of Bell’s palsy.

This is the story of the patient who was already under the treatment of Dr. Ravi for his complaint of Seborrhoeic Dermatitis. He called us on the 10th of May 2019 that he is experiencing drolling of the saliva from the mouth and sensation of the thickness of the tongue. He has visited a local physician at Delhi where he Diagnosed later on as Bells' Palsy, he was much worried about the condition and informed Dr.Ravi. Dr.Ravi restudied his case with existing complaints and on 12th May he has changed his medicine transmission through the hair to another remedy.
He has made gradual progress in a short time and recovered completely of his condition.

After 1 Month and 10 Days

The patient sent us the video and narrated the following things.
Sir, Bell's palsy appeared on 10th May and at the time the condition was worse. At that time alignment of my lips got altered, now that is much better but not cured completely.
But still, there is a problem with speaking.
My eyebrows and eyelids were not moving properly but now movement started in them.
But still, after 10 days of attack left side face is not working properly, the mouth is not opening properly, and I can not lock it completely( a diagnostic feature of disease).
But improvement is there.
I have still trouble eating and drink.

After 1 Month and 18 Days

The patient sent us the video over Whatsapp that on 10th May 2019 this Bell's palsy appeared first and today on 28th May 2019 the condition is much better.
He is saying 98-99 % improvement has been observed.
When disease appeared my lips from the right side dropped down. Facial expression was also changed which has improved tremendously.
Still, 1-2 % paresis is noted at the upper left side of the left lip.
But since the day of attack of Bell's Palsy my saliva dribbles from the right side of the mouth (a common and diagnostic feature of Bell's palsy)
As the condition has been improved hence his transmission has been changed for the Seborrhoeic Dermatitis.

After 5 Months and 8 Days

After many months of treatment for Seborrhoeic dermatitis, the patient again visited the clinic. He is sharing the story of his recovery from Bell's Palsy.
He said all of the sudden the symptoms appeared, face got distorted.
He is saying I was not able to raise eyebrows, eyelids got closed.
It took about one and a half months for the total recovery of my case.
