CSF rhinorrhoea is the symptom of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage outside the skull cavity (extracranially )
Fluid leaks into the paranasal sinuses ( air spaces of the skull ), into the nasal cavity, exiting via the anterior nares. It can occur whenever there is a bony or dural defect of the skull base. It can be unilateral or bilateral but mostly one-sided.
Unilateral discharge without the feeling of coryza makes the patients anxious. Moreover, secretion going inside the throat is tasteless against the salty taste of cold coryza.
Causes are divided into two categories.
Acquired and Congenital.
In acquired cases, the traumatic tumour and the iatrogenic cause ( medical) surgeries are there. Congenital causes include meningocele, encephalocele, persistent cricopharyngeal canal, etc.
Diagnosis is made by CT cisternography to locate the exact site of the CSF leak. It is done after injecting contrast into the spine; however, this procedure is highly dependant on patient positioning and timing. Akash Patel visited Dr Ravi's clinic from Deoriya on 26 January 2020 with the problem of CSF rhinorrhoea; CSF rhinorrhoea occurs when there is a fistula between the dura and the skull base and discharge of CSF from the nose. He had a road accident in 2009. After three months, he started to suffer from severe coryza for two weeks; then, he consulted his nearby doctor in Gorakhpur, and the doctor referred him to a higher centre.
He went to Delhi at Indira Gandhi Hospital and started treatment from there.
They performed laparoscopic surgery, and after surgery, CSF discharge stopped.
But this was not a permanent solution for him. Unfortunately, dribbling started after 6-7 months.
Dripping from nose only then after leakage starts through the left nostril as if before surgery, dribbling started more while bending position and has associated redness of eyes. The patient also complained of tension headache, chronic constipation and paresthesia of the right arm.
Dr Ravi considered all his present complaints and started treatment through hair transmission.
He made a gradual and steady recovery. During the treatment, there occurred acute episodes of cough, and that again caused the CSF leak. Here again, the beauty of the medicine transmission method worked, and transmission changed from our centre of Lucknow.
Not only his cough symptoms but the symptoms of the CSF also got releived.
After 21 Days
First follow up had taken by Dr. Ravi on a video call after 20 days , he got much relief in his present complaints , there is no CSF leak since 8-10 days after the treatment, he got much relief in weakness also , he was able to do his daily activities comfortably,Dr. Ravi advised him not to bend forward frequently and avoid too much strain during stool.
After 1 Month and 23 Days
Talked with the patient over video call, he has been advised for complete bed rest.
After 2 Months and 5 Days
complaining of cough for many weeks,
No CSF leak is there

Today in the lockdown condition of the country, Dr.Ravi made a video call to Akash to take his followup. He is very happy with the outcome.
His condition is now much better. There is no CSF leak either through the nose or in the throat. He is now doing all his activities.
After 5 Months and 8 Days
Video Followup has been taken by Dr.ravi on 2nd July 2020. He is doing good. there is no CSF leak. sometimes there is a moist sensation at the nose.
Power increased in the transmission set.
After 11 Months and 4 Days
Today we have received a video by the patient and he reported that since last many months his CSF RHINORRHEA IS MUCH BETTER.
There is no discharge from the nose
After 2 Years , 9 Months and 9 Days
On 31 October 2022, Dr Ravi talked with the patient over the zoom call. The patient is doing better. He updated about his condition as there is no CSF LEAK for last many months.
