Bipolar disorder, formerly called manic depression, is a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression).
When the patient become depressed, the patients may feel sad or hopeless and lose interest or pleasure in most activities. When their mood shifts to mania or hypomania (less extreme than mania), they may feel euphoric, full of energy or unusually irritable. These mood swings can affect sleep, energy, activity, judgment, behavior and the ability to think clearly.
Episodes of mood swings may occur rarely or multiple times a year. While most people will experience some emotional symptoms between episodes, some may not experience any.
Although bipolar disorder is said to be a lifelong condition, one can manage their mood swings and other symptoms by classical homeopathy . In most cases, bipolar disorder is treated with medications and psychological counseling (psychotherapy).
While the causes of bipolar disorder are not clearly understood, both genetic and environmental factors are thought to play a role. Many genes, each with small effects, may contribute to the development of disorder. Genetic factors are responsible for about 70–90% of the risk of developing bipolar disorder. Environmental risk factors include a history of childhood abuse and long-term stress.
Bipolar disorder must be differentiated from many similar disorders.
Mental disorders that can have symptoms similar to those seen in bipolar disorder include schizophrenia, major depressive disorder,attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and certain personality disorders, such as borderline personality disorder.
Diagnosis of Bipolar disorder is made clinically although certain biological test can be carried to rule out any underlying disease.
Here is case of well diagnosed case of bipolar disorder since years. The case has been diagnosed as BIPOLAR DISORDER by a famous psychiatrist at Gorakhpur.
Her brother got treated earlier by Dr Ravi for his wart condition.
This girl presented at clinic with sulky mood.
She even attempted suicide by drinking phenol but fortunately saved.
She also suffered from hypothyroidism which was like adding fuel in fire as thyroid disorders causes mood swing. Her digestive system was upset and diagnosed as gastritis. She also complained of hair fall and black discolouration at knuckles called as Acanthosis nigricans.

She is very happy with the treatment outcome. She told that her depression and Bipolar disorder is much better. Now she is happy.
