Surgical Diseases and the Triumph of Homeopathy
Hirschsprung's Disease and a Homeopathic Cure: A Case Study
Hirschsprung's Disease (HD) is a congenital disorder characterized by the absence of nerve cells (ganglia) in parts of the colon, leading to severe constipation, bowel obstruction, and potential complications like enterocolitis1. Traditional treatment typically involves surgical resection of the affected bowel segment. However, a remarkable case from Basti, India, demonstrates an alternative resolution through homeopathy, as documented by Dr. Ravi’s clinic1.
The Case
A 2-year-old child diagnosed with HD and hydronephrosis was advised surgery by multiple surgeons. As a last resort, the family sought homeopathic treatment at Dr. Ravi’s clinic in Lucknow on 8 July 20221. The therapy employed "medicine energy transmission," a method where remedies are transmitted through the patient’s hair, eliminating the need for frequent clinic visits or daily doses1.
Treatment Journey
Initial Phase (July–October 2022): The child initially experienced painful constipation, prompting the parents to consider surgery. However, Dr. Ravi revised the homeopathic transmission on 27 October 2022, leading to immediate improvement1.
Progress (November 2022–July 2023): By December 2022, the child passed stools daily with minimal effort. A follow-up Barium enema X-ray on 23 July 2023 confirmed the absence of intestinal strictures, declaring the child cured1.
Long-Term Outcome: By September 2024, the child remained symptom-free for 10 months after treatment cessation, with no recurrence1.
Significance and Implications
This case challenges the notion that homeopathy only addresses psychosomatic conditions, as the patient was a toddler unlikely to experience placebo effects1. Dr. Ravi’s approach aligns with Samuel Hahnemann’s principles, which suggest that certain "surgical diseases" may respond to homeopathy when applied meticulously1. The success highlights potential non-invasive alternatives for HD, though further research is essential to validate these findings.
Conclusion
While surgery remains the standard for HD, this case offers hope for alternative therapies. It underscores the importance of individualized treatment and opens dialogue about integrating homeopathy in managing complex congenital disorders.

After 4 Months and 12 Days
Dr Ravi talked with the parents over the zoom call on 17 November 2022
They reported that they planned for the surgery as their child was not getting relief and constipation was painful. Every day the child was crying. Hence they decided on the surgery as the last report. They informed the clinic. Dr Ravi reviewed the case file and changed the medicine transmission from the Lucknow centre on 27 October to another medicine. Surprisingly the child started getting better the next day and is much better. He is passing stool regularly. The parents are happy with the treatment outcome and thanked Dr Ravi for the treatment by medicine transmission through hair. They thanked Dr ravi for saving their child from a surgical procedure. Treatment continued.
After 5 Months and 18 Days
On 23 December 2022, Dr Ravi talked with the parents over a zoom call. The patient is doing better and passing stool daily with some effort. The parents reported that stool is sometimes hard but better. They are happy with the treatment outcome and continue the treatment. The best part of the medicine transmission method is that the patients need not visit the clinic frequently; it saves their time and money. Moreover, they need not bother about taking the doses daily or often; in the case of children, it's best. Homoeopathy has been alleged for a long that the treatments affect patients only psychologically, but in matters of the child (this case ), this allegation becomes self-null and void.
After 7 Months and 21 Days
On 24 February 2024, Dr Ravi talked with the parents over a zoom call. They are happy with the treatment. The child is passing stool regularly without any trouble. In that sense, we can say his Hirschprung's Disease got cured. But to rule out any pathology, Dr Ravi advised a rectal biopsy. as the procedure is painful and unavailable in the city (Basti), Dr Ravi recommended a simple Barium enema test and asked the pathologist to provide a comparative report(awaited).
The mother reported that the child is catching colds frequently. Although she was given antibiotics before the treatment, she is now without antibiotics.
After 9 Months and 15 Days
It's great to hear that the child with Hirschsprung's Disease seems to be doing well and passing stool regularly without any trouble. However, it's important to note that even when a patient appears to be symptom-free, it's crucial to monitor their condition and ensure there are no complications or residual issues.
Dr. Ravi's recommendation for an X-ray barium enema is likely to assess the current status of the child's colon and the effectiveness of the surgical intervention. This imaging test can help visualize the colon and reveal any potential issues that might not be apparent through regular symptoms.
Regular follow-up and medical monitoring are typical after surgical interventions for conditions like Hirschsprung's Disease to ensure the child's continued well-being and to catch any potential complications early on. It's essential for the parents to follow Dr. Ravi's advice and schedule the X-ray barium enema to maintain their child's health.
After 11 Months and 7 Days
Dr Ravi talked with father over the phone call. He said there is no complaint with the stool. He was advised to go for Barium Enema scan of the child. He promised for the same after 22 June as the child is now at her Grandmother's house due to vacation.
After 1 Year and 17 Days
After constant recommendations and reminders, the father finally took the child to the Diagnostic center.
As they awaited the test results, the father's heart was filled with hope and trepidation. The report arrived, and it brought a wave of relief and joy - the child's condition had been miraculously cured 100%. The colon and rectum appeared entirely normal, with no signs of any narrowing or stricture.
During a previous video consultation, the father had expressed his concerns about the painful Rectal biopsy procedure. Little did they know that the Homeopathic treatment, guided by a caring practitioner, would lead to a complete recovery without the need for any invasive measures.
With tears of gratitude, the father hugged his child tightly, knowing that they had overcome a challenging journey together. The family now embraced a future free from the burden of illness, with a renewed faith in the power of Homeopathy and the unwavering support of a compassionate doctor.
After 1 Year , 4 Months and 19 Days
Dr Ravi talked with father of the patient on 24 Nov 2024, he reported that there is no trouble in the passing the stool. The child is hail and hearty. So we have paused the treatment by detaching the hair from medicated vial and called the patient at clinic whenever best suited.
